Impact Juggling Mmmm Cookies

Do They Put "Real" Cookie Dough in "Cookie Dough" Ice Cream?

One day Matt and I wondered if Edy's used real cookie dough.  I mean, it tastes like cookie dough but are those over-zealous ice cream makers trying to pull one over on America?  We aimed to find out.

First we bought some cookie dough ice cream and extracted the cookie dough.  Our initial idea was to eat around the cookie dough and deposit the cookie dough globules in a bowl.

Well, there is a lot of ice cream in a quart and eating our way through in one sitting was making us ill so we opted to make ice cream soup, remove and "clean" the cookie dough.  I used my mouth, Matt opted for the more sanitary, "strainer & tap water" approach.

Then we pre-heated the oven to 350 (per instructions on the side of the Edy's container) and uniformly spread the cookie dough cubes on a well greased baking sheet.

Fifteen minutes later we had a tray of miniature cookies.  Wow, actual mini cookies and they actually tasted okay, not as good as the raw dough mind you, but then again, that is typical ... why doesn't someone invent cookies that taste better than the batter?

After making the cookies we didn't quite have the heart to eat all the mini cookies in one sitting so we stored the remaining cookies with their unbaked, frozen brethren.

Success!!!
